The sound industry is one of Denmark’s key strengths. Denmark is internationally recognized as a hotspot for sound technology, and our research environments are among the most important in the world. The industry generates an annual turnover of DKK 85 billion, employs 62.000 people, and has a high export rate. Sound tech innovation contributes to improving quality of life in areas such as hearing, mental health, indoor acoustics, noise reduction, sound experiences, music, and much more.
Over the past four years, Danish Sound Cluster has created a framework for increased knowledge sharing and more partnerships across public and private stakeholders, ensuring that Denmark maintains its leadership position despite growing international competition. A wide range of professionally inspiring collaborations and events, including Danish Sound Day, have been held. Many national and international members and partners have joined, making the cluster a strong, cross-sectoral entry point today.
It was therefore unexpected to receive the message that, as of July 1, Danish Sound Cluster will no longer be part of the publicly funded cluster program – even though the overall public funding framework has not been reduced.
Unfortunately, this means that the cluster will not be able to realize the new projects that were planned in collaboration with the industry and Danish research environments. It also means that the secretariat will close on July 4. Scheduled events, programs, and projects will, of course, be carried out in May and June.
Danish Sound Cluster intends to continue as an association.
We want to help maintain and expand the strong position that sound technology holds – for the benefit of the sound industry and the Danish economy.
The board has therefore decided to initiate a process to clarify which of the current activities can be continued and in what form – including the industry’s annual, successful networking event, Danish Sound Day. We expect to announce a decision after the summer break in XNUMX.
