Project Title: Development of the First Volumetric 3D Printer for Audiology: On-Demand, In-Clinic Production of Custom Earmolds
Description:
PERFI is a deep-tech startup revolutionizing 3D printing with Volumetric Additive Manufacturing (VAM), cutting production times for custom objects from hours to seconds. We focus on developing volumetric 3D printers for in-clinic production of custom components, initially targeting on-emand earmolds for hearing aids and hearing protection. Our prototype has already shown it can reduce earmold production from three weeks to just 25 minutes, prompting a Danish hearing aid manufacturer to propose a full pilot study.
This project aims to build a fully functional volumetric printer specifically optimized for hearing aid production, enabling on-demand, decentralized manufacturing of custom earmolds. By integrating specialized hardware and software, we can streamline the entire production chain-from scanning a patient’s ear to delivering a finalized earmold in minutes.
We have chosen to partner with Aagaard AM to leverage their deep expertise in developing advanced 3D printing u nits, which complements our core VAM technology and software capabilities. Together, we bring a unique combination of skills: PERFI focuses on the cutting-edge volumetric printing process and system design, while Aagaard AM contributes proven know-how in robust 3D printer engineering and industrialization. This collaboration maximizes our innovation potential by merging groundbreaking research with proven manufacturing experience. Ultimately, we aim to create the world’s first volumetric printer tailored to the audiology sector, transforming how hearing aid components are produced and setting new standards for patient care.
