The Danish audio industry is one of Denmark's strengths
World-class quality of life and technology
The Danish audio industry consists of approx. 1.100 companies, where sound is the primary or essential part of the strategic focus. The industry employs 62,000 employees, generates annual revenue of DKK 85 billion. and exports more than DKK 68 billion, equivalent to 4% of total Danish exports.
Sound technology is one of Denmark's strongest tech areas, which contributes to the quality of life of people all over the world and has a history of over 100 years behind it.
The sound sector is among the 4 (out of 11) Danish technology sectors (ATV's analysis), which scores above the average number of patents and scientific publications internationally, which underlines Denmark's strong position in sound.
The audio industry has – greatly simplified – three focus areas:
- Hearing and Health – How do we use sound technological innovation to increase the population's quality of life and health? How do we diagnose, prevent and remedy hearing loss? How can sound and music alleviate somatic and psychiatric disorders?
- Acoustics and Environment – How do we monitor, reduce and combat noise and create sustainable environments that minimize stress and increase the quality of life? – inside or outside? – in traffic, in the urban environment, in industry, at work and at home? How do we create buildings and materials that support good sound?
- Sound experiences – How do we produce good sound as a content, experience and communication element for live concerts, at home, in the car, in museums, on the phone and in digital media such as gaming, film, podcast, TV, radio and social media?
