A major obstacle for ensuring growth and innovation in our industry is the lack of qualified candidates for the many open positions being advertized. Companies are therefore making a great effort to recruit talent from abroad, but many companies meet difficulties in the process. Fortunately, there are ways to get help. One way is to join the EU-funded initiative “Talent to Denmark”, lead by the organization Copenhagen Capacity. In a partnership with 32 organizations from all corners of Denmark, they help to attract, onboard and retain foreign workforce. The program also has a special focus on how to help international masters students at Danish universities finding their way to the Danish labour market.
For Danish companies interested in this initiative, most services are offered for free. Companies from the sound industry like Oticon, GN, Soundboks and Sennheiser have already joined the program, but there is space for more sound industry partners to join!
How can companies get help attracting foreign talent?
How do you ensure your new employee gets “a soft landing” in Denmark?
Companies should make sure their new employees make use of the international citizen services that are spread out in the 4 largest cities. They can help with the paper work – registration, tax & banking – as well as getting an introduction to the Danish work culture, housing and social integration.
The Life in Denmark website will help you to find the right International Citizen Service location.
How is the work culture in your company – and how do you prepare for international employees?
Hiring employees from other countries can undoubtedly enrich the work environment, innovation processes and market reach. It is important for small and medium-sized companies with little experience with employing foreign talent, to carefully consider what it takes to integrate their first international colleagues. Talent to Denmark helps with questions like: How will the workplace culture adapt to include new employees? Which languages shall we speak at the office? How is the recruitment process from A to Z with a foreigner? How do you interpret qualifications on a CV? Where and how can they get a work permit? Find more information in this guide.
This article is based on an interview with Dan Rosenberg from Copenhagen Capacity. Dan will be more than happy to share more information on how Danish companies can profit from the various services and programs in the Talent to Denmark project.
