Arup and Danish Sound Cluster are pleased to announce their formal Partnership Agreement to combat environmental noise pollution in cities and to test with innovative noise technology within Arup existing projects.
Arup and Danish Sound Cluster will work closely together to measure the impact of noise produced by urban traffic and analyse its effect on people’s health, as well as to study underwater noise pollution stemming from the construction of offshore wind farms.
As the nationwide association for the sound industry, Danish Sound Cluster unites knowledge institutions and the industry to develop viable acoustics solutions that reduce noise pollution and improve people’s quality of life.
Arup’s Living Lab for Urban Nature in Copenhagen will serve as a first test bed to understand the effect of nature solutions such as flower beds and vertical rain gardens on lowering noise pollution. The partnership between Arup and Danish Cluster will investigate concrete aspects related to Natural Capital Accounting and seek to assign monetary value to the effects of noise on health and expertly later in the 2023 investigate if the living lab concept can be adopted to larger global metropoles.
Danish Sound Award
Stefania Serafin and Dorte Hammerhoi, both professors at Aalborg University, were awarded with the Danish Sound Award (Dansk Lydpris) for the years 2020 and 2021.
