Sports Communication Technology

Audio communication technology is heavily used and widely known in sports like pro cycling and Formula 1, where riders and drivers can communicate with managers and team crew members. But why haven’t we seen audio widely utilized in sports like football yet?

Join us for a peek in to the future of sports, when we explore how use of audio technology can affect athlete performance, stadium experience and consumer behaviour.

Program

How can audio technology enhance elite sports performance, fan engagemnt and consumer experience?

That will be the question explored when we invite a sports psycholigst and two front runners in the sports audio technology business to the webinar roundtable.

Meet FC Copenhagen First Team Sports Psychologist Morten Bertelsen who will delve into the need of audio technology and how the use affects the players’ performance and mental state. Jens Knudsen from Vokalo, a sports tech company that captures and analyses sports audio, will discuss how treating audio as a datapoint for analysis can enhance sports team performance, much like video and biometric data are used today.

Finally, Paul van Dooren from Dutch company Sorama will share his global sports business and consumer insights – as well as experiences collaborating with football club PSV Eindhoven; a collaboration where Sorama provides audio technology solutions for proactive stadium security purposes and stadium hate speech prevention.

The use and prospects of audio communication in broadcasting will also be layed out and discussed among the panelists, and we urge whoever interested in the field to share your views and join our discussion.

You will meet:

Jens Knudsen, Co-Founder of Vokalo

With a background in business and elite football, both as a player and coach, Jens serves as the CEO of Vokalo, the first company to capture and analyse audio data from players and coaches. Founded in 2019 with his brother Jakob Nygaard, Vokalo focuses on capturing and analysing in-game sports communication to optimise team performance and talent development. The company has developed an audio wearable for recording communication, along with a platform that provides analytical insights, and is currently creating the first-ever dataset of communication in sports.
