At the start of the year, we asked you for feedback on our activities and other things we are doing to create value for the community. An impressive 231 answers came in! Most of the feedback came from technical experts, but we also have some managers/directors, researchers and business developers in our community. Here is a summary of the results.
Communications – newsletter, website and social media
The majority of you are happy to receive a monthly newsletter with information about upcoming events and business or research news that could support the development of the sound industry.
Not everybody is following us on social media and most people don’t check our website regularly (yet!) Please follow us on LinkedIn or Facebook. Thanks to all those who shared ideas for content.
Expectations – Activities and topics
Formats
Webinars, in-person conferences, company visits, and network groups are the most popular activities, whilst training, workshops, innovation projects, company visits and matchmaking activities are also receiving a lot of votes.
Popular event topics:
Sound and healthcare (e.g. hearing health &hearing aids, noise, stress, music therapy)
Audio algorithms, software or technology
Creative aspects of sound (music and sound production, spatial audio, VR, AR, XR)
Acoustics (building and environmental) and noise
Communication (speech and voice technology, communication tools, software and products)
Non-technical subjects: sustainability, startup initiatives and test & certification
Overview of the sector
Moreover, a significant part of the open answers signaled that Danish Sound Cluster should help to create an overview of the Danish Sound Industry – for business, network and career purposes, as well as talent attraction.
How does this survey affect the activities we have planned for 2022?
In the Danish Sound Cluster team, we have decided to adjust the activity plans for 2022 to:
30+ webinars
3 in-person conferences (April, May, November)
Contributions at conferences organized by other partners
5 or more workshops / training sessions (in-person or online)
8 or more network meetings at company locations or startup hubs – on sustainability, startup topics and probably other relevant themes
As matchmaking is at the core of what we do, we strive to set the scene for informal and professional networking at all our in-person events.
We have decided to invite dedicated students to participate for free at these events; hopefully this initiative will enable more informal networking between universities and industry players. More university matchmaking initiatives at a local scale at are also on their way.
The intention behind the new network groups is of course to unite people across the sector and create environments where participants can find inspiration and exchange ideas and experiences.
To help people find each other, we will publish a job portal on our website this Spring. Finally, an analysis of the Danish Sound Industry (companies, employees, export, turnover) will be published later this year.
If you are interested in looking at the survey results in more detail, please find the report here, where you can also find a selection of all the open answers we have received. Of course, the results will be shared within the Danish Sound Cluster organization for further action.
