A true 360-degree spherical audio speaker

Project title: A true 360-degree spherical audio speaker

Description:

Stereo sound struggles to meet today’s listening preferences, as 80% of listeners prefer a single speaker for their music. This poses a challenge, since demand is also growing for enhanced sound quality and an immersive experience that stereo simply cannot provide. Stereo requires two separate speakers and confines the listener to a narrow sweet spot, restricting free movement. Furthermore, proper stereo setup demands meticulous speaker calibration to offset room acoustics, because the fundamental idea is to impose an artificial sound field on the listening space.

The goal of this collaboration is to reinvent sound distribution for the modern listener, enabling an expansive Hi-Fi experience for multiple users simultaneously, rather than limiting pristine sound to a single sweet spot. The Real Sound Company’s patented Imerz™ algorithm facilitates this by turning any loudspeaker into a musical instrument. The O-Kube explores this potential with its novel cubic design and industry firsts.

Together they develop a Bluetooth speaker emitting a spherical sound wave from a stereo input, producing a seamless 360-degree listening area without sweet spots, shadows or need for calibration. The room acoustics are incorporated into the sound, creating an even, unrestricted listening space in a full circle around the speaker.
